Safety lock out valves are used in conjunction with filter, regulator lubricator units at the compressed air supply inlet to machinery. They can also be used without an FRL assembly. Their purpose is to exhaust compressed air that is in the machinery before personnel enter the machinery area. When the valve is turned of the compressed air is dumped from the machinery and a padlock or other locking device, can be inserted into the valve to prevent accidental use whilst the maintenance engineer is in the machinery area.
