ER series insert bearings (aka SER Series) are double-sealed deep-groove ball bearings made of through-hardened chromium steel and are appropriate for applications with moderate radial loads and light thrust or combination loads. They have a wide inner ring on both sides for increased shaft support and reduced inner-ring tilt for smooth operation. The bearing has a cylindrical outer ring with a snap ring (retaining ring), allowing the bearing to be axially located in the housing. This saves space and reduces potential misalignment due to mounting errors and eliminates the need for machining housing shoulders. ~~ Steel-reinforced molded rubber lip seals with flingers on both sides of the bearing retain the high-quality multi-purpose lubricant and deflect contaminants away from the seals. The bearing locks onto the shaft with two cup point set screws spaced 120 degrees apart for a three-point contact hold. The area around the set screw is specially annealed to prevent cracking when set screws are tightened. Set screw locking is suitable for low to moderate speed applications where the shaft rotates in a single or reversing direction. ~~ Insert bearings arrive fully lubricated and ready for use, but can also be re-lubricated as needed. Their design includes a groove and oil hole in the outer ring to efficiently channel grease into the bearing during re-lubrication while in an appropriate housing. ~~ These insert bearings made to AFBMA standards, interchangeable, and can be used in housings produced by most manufacturers and are suitable for use in industrial and commercial applications including industrial machinery, conveyors, fans/blowers, agricultural equipment, construction machinery, exercise equipment, and food processing equipment, among many others.
