Baldor-Reliance BC160 is a dual-voltage adjustable-speed SCR DC motor control designed for constant-torque applications using permanent-magnet or shunt-wound DC motors. The control accepts 115 or 230 VAC single-phase, 50/60 Hz input and provides nominal 90 or 180 VDC armature output. Rated output is 1.5 HP at 115 VAC or 3 HP at 230 VAC, with a maximum DC output current of 15 A. The BC160 uses a NEMA 4X / IP65 enclosure designed for washdown and wet or dirty industrial environments. Its die-cast aluminum housing is acrylic coated for corrosion resistance, with sealed switches and a sealed speed potentiometer. Adjustable functions include acceleration, deceleration, current limit, IR compensation, minimum speed and maximum speed. The controller can operate in speed or torque control mode and supports armature or DC tachometer feedback. Electronic current limiting and overload protection help protect the connected motor, while the 50:1 control speed range provides adjustable-speed operation for suitable DC motor applications.
