Browning’s Features & Benefits
- Advantages of a V-belt drive includes cleanliness, efficiency, dampens vibration, quiet, covers wide horsepower ranges, and covers wide range of driven speeds using standard electric motors.
- Variable Pitch Sheaves: VP Vortex Variable Pitch Sheaves have increased wall thickness and hub design for increased horsepower, capacity and shorter center drives. The external rib design provides extra cooling for longer belt life. B5V combination groove sheaves accept A, B, and 5V belts and serves 90% of all 10-125 HP applications.
- Bushings: Browning pioneered the SPLIT TAPER® bushing and also offers QD® and Taper Bore bushings as well. The SPLIT TAPER® bushing features include a solid flange to maintain concentric bores; ¾” taper per foot – self locking; double-split barrel for positive clamping; and comes available in inch, metric, and spline bore. Bores range from 3/8” to 10”.

Continental Features & Benefits
- Synchronous (Positive Drive) Belts: Combining the advantages of chain and gear with the advantages of V-belts. There is minimal elongation, no metal-to-metal contact, and no constant lubrication. Synchronous belts have multiple designs.
- FHP Belts: Can be used for light-duty fractional horsepower motors. FHP V-belts offer you the opportunity to achieve full operating power requirements with a lower horsepower drive, reduced energy requirements, or both. Used in applications where the belt is expected to perform around smaller sheave diameters (i.e. shop equipment, home appliances, light-duty machinery, and blowers).
- Hex Belts: Also known as double V-belts, are designed for use on drives with one or more reverse bends. They usually transmit power from both sides of the belt. Used on drives having one or more reverse bends and usually where power must be transmitted to or from the belt in both the usual and reverse positions (i.e. lawn and garden equipment, mixers, agitators, mule drives, conveyors, and crushers).
- Torque-Flex Belts: Fully cogged to provide the flexibility needed to keep their high-traction rubber edges in contact with the sheave grooves. This high efficiency allows you to achieve the horsepower you need at a lower total drive cost. Designed for tough, small sheave, high tension drives. 25%-30% higher power ratings than standard V-belts.
Martin’s Features & Benefits
- Martin Sprocket & Gear was founded in 1951 and has expanded through machining, fabrication, forging, casting, powdered metal technology, and machined and injection molded plastics of power transmission components, material handling products and industrial hand tools.
- Sheaves: Produces QD, Taper Bushed, Variable Pitch, and Fractional horsepower style sheaves in a variety of sizes.
- Conveyor Pulleys: Produces conveyor pulleys for bulk handling. Conveyor pulley types include Drum Pulleys from 3-1/2” to 60″ diameter; Wing Pulleys from 6” to 60” diameter; Quarry Duty “AR” Wing Pulleys; Standard, Heavy, Mine and Quarry Duty; Stainless Steel Pulleys; Spiral Pulleys; Lumber Rolls; Engineering Class Pulleys; and V-Guide Pulleys.
- Timing Pulleys: Produces timing pulleys manufactured and stocked in minimum plain bore, taper bushed and QD bushed styles depending on size and pitch. Timing pulleys have evenly spaced axial grooves cut in their periphery to make correct, positive engagement with the mating teeth of the belt. These pulleys are designed so that the teeth of the belt enter and leave the grooves with negligible friction.
